Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 teaspoon maple extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)

1/2 cup pure maple syrup (for drizzling)

Instructions

Brown the Butter: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until it turns a deep golden brown and smells nutty (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Combine Sugars: In a large bowl, whisk together the brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.

Add Eggs and Extracts: Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla and maple extracts until fully combined.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in Nuts: If using, gently fold the chopped nuts into the batter.

Prepare the Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Spread the Batter: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Cool and Drizzle: Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Drizzle the top generously with maple syrup. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Serve: Enjoy your deliciously rich Brown Butter Maple Blondies served warm or at room temperature!
