Ingredients

2 cups whole milk

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup cornstarch

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/2 cup heavy cream (for whipping)

Chocolate shavings or crushed cookies (for garnish)

Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, whisk together the whole milk, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt until well combined.

Place the saucepan over medium heat and continue to whisk constantly as the mixture heats up. Bring it to a gentle boil, ensuring it thickens to a smooth consistency. This should take about 5-7 minutes.

Once the pudding has thickened, remove it from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and unsalted butter until everything is melted and homogeneous.

Allow the pudding to cool for about 10 minutes at room temperature, then cover the surface with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until completely chilled.

Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. You can add a teaspoon of sugar for sweetness if desired.

Once the chocolate pudding is chilled, gently fold in half of the whipped cream to create a lighter texture.

Spoon the chocolate pudding into individual cups or bowls, and top with the remaining whipped cream.

Garnish each cup with chocolate shavings or crushed cookies, and add a fresh mint leaf on top for a pop of color.
