Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

1 tablespoon butter (melted, optional for brushing)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet until it’s about 1/8 inch thick. This will help the twists be more flaky and airy.

Mix Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Mix well to ensure the cinnamon is evenly distributed throughout the sugar.

Sprinkle the Mixture: Generously sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the rolled-out puff pastry. Use a rolling pin to gently press the mixture into the pastry, so it adheres well.

Cut the Pastry: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the pastry into strips about 1 inch wide. You can make them longer or shorter based on your desired twist size.

Twist the Strips: Take each strip and twist it several times (about 3-4 twists) to create a decorative spiral. Place the twisted strips onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each twist to allow for puffing.

Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the pastry twists with the beaten egg to give them a golden color when baked. If desired, drizzle a little melted butter over the top for extra flavor.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the twists are puffed and golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the twists from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. You can sprinkle a bit more cinnamon sugar on top if you like.

Enjoy: Serve warm as a delightful snack or dessert! These twists can also be dipped in chocolate or served with a side of fruit compote for an extra treat.
