Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a lighter option)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

1 large egg

3 cloves garlic, minced

2-3 fresh green chilies, finely chopped (adjust based on heat preference)

1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

1/2 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

For the Sauce:

1 cup tomato sauce

1/2 cup green chili sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 tbsp honey (to balance the spice)

1 tsp lime juice

Salt to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef (or turkey), breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, and egg. Add the minced garlic, finely chopped green chilies, fresh cilantro, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and chopped onion. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

Form the Meatballs: Shape the mixture into meatballs about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. You should get approximately 18-20 meatballs depending on size.

Cook the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the meatballs, cooking in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Sear them for about 4–5 minutes on each side or until they are browned and cooked through.

Prepare the Sauce: In a medium saucepan, mix together the tomato sauce, green chili sauce, honey, lime juice, and salt. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

Combine & Simmer: Once the meatballs are cooked, transfer them to the saucepan with the simmering sauce. Let them simmer together for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Stir gently to coat the meatballs in the sauce.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve the spicy green chili meatballs over rice, pasta, or in a warm taco shell, garnished with extra cilantro and a squeeze of lime if desired.
