Ingredients

4 cod fillets (about 6 oz each)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

Juice and zest of 1 large lemon

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried parsley

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Fillets: Rinse the cod fillets under cold water, then pat dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

Make the Lemon Garlic Butter: In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Add Lemon Flavor: Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, dried oregano, dried parsley, and red pepper flakes (if using). Allow the mixture to simmer for an additional minute, stirring occasionally.

Cook the Cod: Gently place the cod fillets in the skillet, spooning some of the lemon garlic butter over the fillets. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then carefully flip the fillets and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cod is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

Serve: Once cooked, transfer the cod fillets to a serving platter. Drizzle the remaining lemon garlic butter from the skillet over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
