1 cup pizza sauce

8 slices of white bread

1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup pepperoni slices (or your choice of toppings, like mushrooms or bell peppers)

½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

4 tablespoons butter, softened

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Prep the Bread:

    - Lay out the slices of bread on a clean surface. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on one side of each slice. This will be the inside of the sandwich.

      Add the Cheese and Toppings:

        - Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce on half of the slices. Top with pepperoni slices (or your preferred toppings), then add a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese over the toppings.

          Complete the Sandwiches:

            - Place the remaining slices of bread on top, sauce-side down, to form your sandwiches.

              Prepare the Butter Mixture:

                - In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Mix well until combined.

                  Butter the Outside:

                    - Spread a thin layer of the butter mixture onto the top side of each sandwich.

                      Grill the Sandwiches:

                        - Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Once hot, place the sandwiches in the skillet, buttered side down. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown, then carefully spread some butter mixture on the top side of the sandwiches.

                          Flip and Finish Cooking:

                            - Flip the sandwiches over and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until golden brown and the cheese has melted. You may cover the skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt faster.

                              Serve:

                                - Once cooked, remove from the skillet and let them cool for a minute. Cut each sandwich into quarters or triangles for easy eating. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
