Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, grated

3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon brown sugar

Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooked jasmine rice or noodles, for serving

Sesame seeds and green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, the cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well, cover, and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and brown sugar. Set aside.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, add the vegetable oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned (you may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan). Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant, then add broccoli florets and sliced red bell pepper. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are just tender but still crisp.

Combine and Sauce It Up: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Pour the sauce over the mixture and toss everything together. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, ensuring the sauce coats all ingredients and heats through.

Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or soy sauce if needed. Serve immediately over cooked jasmine rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
