Ingredients

2 fresh tuna steaks (about 6 oz each)

1/2 cup fresh pineapple juice

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 green onions, finely sliced (for garnish)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional for garnish)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together the pineapple juice, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic until well combined.

Marinate the Tuna: Place the tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Ensure the steaks are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.

Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. If using a grill, ensure it’s well-oiled to prevent sticking.

Cook the Tuna: Remove the tuna steaks from the marinade, reserving the marinade for glazing. Season the steaks lightly with salt and pepper. Place the steaks on the preheated grill and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare or longer based on your preferred doneness.

Glaze the Tuna: In the last minute of cooking, brush some of the reserved marinade over the tuna to create a flavorful glaze.

Serve: Remove the tuna steaks from the grill and let them rest for a minute. Slice on the bias and plate them. Drizzle with any remaining glaze from the marinade (boiled for safety), and garnish with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and fresh cilantro if desired.

Enjoy: Serve immediately with your choice of sides, such as coconut rice or a fresh tropical salad to complete the meal.
