Ingredients

1 large baguette (or Italian loaf)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped (plus extra for garnish)

1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, basil, lemon zest, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all the ingredients are well incorporated.

Slice the Bread: Cut the baguette in half lengthwise so you have two long pieces. You can also slice it into individual servings if you prefer.

Spread the Mixture: Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the baguette. Make sure to cover all areas for a zesty flavor burst in every bite.

Add Parmesan (Optional): If you’re using Parmesan cheese, sprinkle it evenly over the buttered bread for an added layer of flavor.

Bake in the Oven: Place the baguette halves on a baking sheet, cut side up. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the cheese (if used) is bubbly.

Broil for Extra Crispiness: If you want an extra crispy top, switch the oven to broil mode and broil the bread for an additional 1-2 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.

Garnish and Serve: Once done, remove the garlic bread from the oven and let it sit for a minute. Garnish with extra chopped parsley before slicing (if you haven't already) and serve warm.
